Valparaíso Open Language and Culture Program @PUCV 

We are glad to announce the second version of our initiative VOL&CP. We invite all people willing, needing or wanting to follow a high-quality, on-line, and intensive Spanish program. Our intercultural approach to teaching the language allows our students to take the most of the learning experience, as the program includes our Intercultural Radio time.

Important dates:

• Application deadline: August 20

• Course registration: during application

• Online orientation: August 16

• Online classes begin: August 17

• Course level change: August 17 to 20

• Online classes end: November 25

• Transcripts to be sent by: December

Program details:

Student will be able to register up to 2 courses from the list below.

Each course has a maximum capacity of 20 students. Those registering once the capacity has been reached will remain in a waiting list during the first week of classes, so they can start the second if there’s availability.

All courses will be taught online.

• PIIE C 144-1 Oral and written Spanish – Beginner Level (4 créditos – 60 horas)

           Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 3.50 PM to 5 PM

• PIIE C 241-1 Español Oral y Escrito – Nivel Intermedio (4 créditos – 60 horas) 

          Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 3.50 PM to 5 PM

• PIIE C 341-1 Español Oral y Escrito – Nivel Avanzado (4 créditos – 60 horas) 

          Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 3.50 PM to 5 PM

• PIIE C 341-2 Español Oral y Escrito – Nivel Avanzado (4 créditos – 60 horas)

         Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 2.30 PM to 3.40 PM

• PIIE C 301-1 Gramática – Revisión y análisis del sistema de reglas del español (4 créditos – 60 horas)

         Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 5.10 PM to 6.20 PM

Program policy:

1. In order to pass the course, a minimum of 80% of attendance is required

2. Once capacity has been reached, students wanting to register will remain in a waiting list

3. Students will be to adjust their course level during the first week of classes as long as there’s availability

4. Students should inform the PUCV International Student Advisor if they will need a transcript to be issued

 

Language Requirements

During the application process, students need to take an online diagnostic test, and carry on with an interview with PIIE’s Academic Coordinator. The interview will be organized by the International Students Advisor. These activities are aimed at providing better feedback on the students’ recommended course level.

ATTENTION: All those wanting to take part of this program should register through our online registration platform

• Official ID. As we will issue an official acceptance letter, and for some a transcript, we require all applicants to provide a valid identity digital copy

• Standard ID photo (JPG format, maximum size: 30 kb)

• Student’s course selection (PDF format)
